Unlock the rhythm. Own your movement. Bring true playfulness to every dance.
Too often, footwork in social dancing feels like memorizing rigid combos—steps you try to squeeze in before quickly rushing back to your basic. But authentic Bachata footwork isn’t about running through choreography; it’s about having a conversation with the music.
In this 2-hour intensive workshop in Mississauga, we are pulling back the curtain on footwork mechanics to unpack the tools behind the steps. You won’t just learn combinations; you will understand how and why footwork works, giving you the autonomy to build, adapt, and play in real time on the social floor.
What We’ll Dive Into
Deconstructing the Mechanics: Break down weight transfers, ankle engagement, and hip action so your steps feel grounded, effortless, and natural rather than forced.
Flow Through the Transitions: Eliminate the awkward pause between executing footwork and returning to partnerwork. Learn how to maintain momentum and flow seamlessly between body movement and foot rhythms.
Musical Understanding & Syncopation: Unpack the rhythm sections—learning when to slow it down, when to syncopate, and how to use footwork to highlight the accents in the music.
Playfulness & Dynamic Expression: Shift away from overthinking. Discover how to use small variations, pauses, and rhythmic textures to make your social dancing dynamic, spontaneous, and fun.
Social Connection: Learn how solo footwork and body flow can enhance—rather than disrupt—your connection with a partner, creating shared moments of musicality on the floor.
